Excellence, Since 1983 Chateau Victorian was constructed around the turn of the century, although the exact date is unknown. It was originally a single family residence for a family that obviously enjoyed the beach and the ocean. The building was converted to apartments in the 1950's. The renovation to an elegant, comfortable Inn took fifteen months. The Inn was opened in June 1983. |

All of the rooms have a queen-size bed and their own private tiled bathroom with tiled stall shower, however, one bathroom has a claw-foot tub with over-head shower. Each room has a working fireplace and it's own heating system controlled by the guest. The rooms are decorated and furnished with individual color schemes especially selected for that room in a Victorian style and are carpeted. The complimentary continental breakfast consists of fresh fruit in season, fruit juice, coffees, teas, fresh croissants, muffins, and other pasteries with preserves, whipped unsalted butter and cream cheese. A choice of eating areas is available; the lounge dining area, the secluded deck, or the brick patio. Breakfast is available from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.; open seating, buffet style. In the late afternoon, between 5:00 and 7:00, guests may relax in the spacious lounge with complimentary beverage, cheese and crackers. This time is an excellent prelude to dining at one of the area's superb restaurants some within walking distance. ![]() Sitting Room |

Alice June, Innkeeper
Santa Cruz has so much to offer the visitor that it is almost impossible to know where to start. Within a block of Chateau Victorian is the beautiful beach, stretching for nearly a mile from the mouth of the San Lorenzo River to beyond the Municipal Wharf. The world-famous Casino and Boardwalk, a delight for the young at heart, are also only a block away. A few blocks further is the Municipal Pier, with interesting souvenir shops and fine seafood restaurants. During most of the year, you will be able to see and feed the seals which have made the pier their habitat. |
